What actually makes this speech work
The groom speech is the one with the most obligations attached. You are thanking both sets of parents, the guests, the people who helped, the wedding party, and you are doing it in a fixed order that half the room will notice if you get wrong. It is genuinely closer to chairing a meeting than to giving a toast.
