Most maid of honor templates are a list of compliments with a toast glued on. Beautiful. Kind. My person. All true, none of it a person. This one only works if every blank is a scene: the radiator, the terrible first flat, the night she called.
You can be funny. You should be. The laugh has to come from a situation you both survived, not from a quality she cannot laugh at in front of his parents.
If you freeze at the blanks, that is information. Use the generator. It asks for the same scenes and does the ordering.
A template you can actually say
Classic, three to four minutes
- Open on a small true detail only you would know. Not 'for those who do not know me'.
- One sentence on how you know her, and from when.
- One scene from the years before him: a flat, a job, a holiday, a bad week.
- What changed when she met [name], in something you saw, not something you were told.
- One thing you actually admire, proved by that scene.
- A sentence to him, by name, without making him the joke.
- Toast. Sit down before you start a second speech.
Short, about two minutes
- Who you are. One scene. One hope. The glass.
- Cut the childhood montage. You do not have time, and her mother might be next.
How it works
1. Choose classic or short
Classic if you are the only woman speaking at length. Short if there are several of you, or if you already know you will cry and want less runway.
2. Fill scenes, not adjectives
If a blank can be answered with 'she is amazing', you have not answered it.
3. Add him in one paragraph, not as an afterthought
A speech that never names the person she married reads as a tribute to a friendship, not a toast to a marriage.
4. Use the generator if the voice is still not yours
Templates share a cadence. Your answers do not.
